About

Donna M. A. Harrington is a local singer songwriter from Scituate, Massachusetts, USA. Growing up on the ocean in Scituate, Massachusetts she developed a great love for singing, songwriting, and the sea.

She began teaching voice lessons and guitar lessons from her hometown, and established a studio on the South Shore. She moved her Duxbury studio to Kingston, Massachusetts where she has been teaching for many years.

Donna has been singing, composing music, and writing songs most of her life, starting in her childhood, and continues to this day. She enjoys writing songs in her free time about the ocean, faith, love, and life on the coast. She enjoys singing many styles of music, from popular to classical styles, sea shanties, traditional songs, sacred arias, Gregorian chants, Christian hymns, and Irish songs ( link to listen). She loves singing for the pure joy of it, and for the study of voice as a true art form. She began singing in church choirs in her youth and over the years she has sung at local churches for weddings, funerals, Masses, and healing services, learning hundreds of beautiful songs. Some of her favorites are Ave Maria, Franz Schubert; Ave Maria, Bach Gounod; and Panis Angelicus, Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Donna has been an instructor for decades, teaching beginner to professional voice instruction, voice coaching, composition, and songwriting. She also teaches a combination of beginner guitar and voice instruction . She is a passionate educator and loves to help artists reach their goals. Donna started teaching voice lessons, songwriting, and guitar lessons in her late teens. She continued as a voice instructor throughout her college years while working full time in finance and business management. Donna began classical voice studies with her first voice instructor, Paula Carroll, who was the church Choir Director at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Scituate, Massachusetts. Paula Carroll’s beautiful voice, expertise, kindness, and support instilled her with a great respect and love for the art of singing and sacred music, and sparked an inspiration to one day become a voice instructor. The inspiration continued with voice studies into adulthood and singing in church choirs most of her life. Donna enjoys singing every day and finds she learns something wonderfully new each day. She believes in embracing humility in learning so we continue to grow, and strive toward excellence in our chosen careers. Her years of experience, daily practice, and voice studies have built a strong foundation of knowledge she loves to share with others. She has dedicated years in professional classical voice studies, popular voice methods, private instruction, professional expert courses, performance, and college education majoring in music. Additional studies include business, fine art, and literature.

Some of the factors that helped shape her own unique voice methods include a vast knowledge of vocal techniques and custom vocal scales, specialized vocalises and breathing exercises, and a custom blend of popular voice techniques combined with Italian classical and Latin sacred music. She is blessed with an ear to hear your voice in fine detail from your strengths to areas to build upon, all while preserving and enhancing your natural, unique voice.
