On a stormy Sunday morning, on September 9, 2018, I took these pictures of Michael Simonelli, "Surfcaster in The Waves," on Duxbury Beach. I shared them with Duxbury Beach Reservation and they got right back to me and said they loved them. They posted it on their website on September 14, 2018 as their cover photo until February 2019. Thank you Duxbury Beach Reservation for showing these pics and thank you Michael for sharing your story and your kind words!!!

“From our surfcaster:
Duxbury Beach is where my passion for salt water fishing began, and is still where I return to each year in hopes of finding that one great fish out of the vast stretch of sandy ocean. My father, Bob Simonelli, is the one who got me started at a very young age waking up for sunrise and walking out to his chest to cast our lines. Having a house at 250 Gurnet road made it easy for us get out as much as possible, whenever we were in town. Today, having sold the house, I still make my way down to the same stretch to test my surf casting skills and try for one of the many striped bass that linger off the shore line. Whether a catch is made or not, Duxbury Beach is a place of tranquility and peace for me in a world of very populated and competitive striper fishing areas we are fortunate to have throughout Massachusetts. On this day when I was present, I was lucky enough to meet Donna Harrington who managed to get these unbelievable photos of me casting in the heavy surf. It was a very windy day and I was just as surprised to see her out there, as she was to see me casting. Donna’s photography skills really shined in these shots as she managed to capture not only the power of the ocean that day, but also the beauty of the landscape as a whole. I consider myself lucky to have met her that day and quite fortunate to have these photos so many years after getting my salt water career started. It’s great people like her that walk the beach in Duxbury that I love talking with and sharing experiences. Thank you for posting her photos and I hope this story gives a little background to my story as the “surfcaster in the waves.” - Michael Simonelli PC: Donna Marie Albano Harrington
